The first Southern Coach conversions were produced in 1979.  In 1981 Southern Coach was asked to join the General Motors bailment pool system, where GM vehicles are shipped directly to Southern Coach for upfit, then delivered to GM dealers.  GM inspects Southern Coach on a regular basis, examining our manufacturing process, quality, process controls, customer service, warranty, parts and administration.  In addition, GM annually surveys all GM dealers as to how they are treated by Southern Coach.  In these surveys Southern Coach always receives top marks by dealership managers.

Southern Coach only allows select dealers in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia to stock our products.  All GM dealers may perform service on our products, but our products can only be purchased through appointed dealerships in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.  This policy insures that the dealer has been inspected and approved by our staff, is close enough to send vehicles to us for service and shares our commitment to World Class Customer Service.  Southern Coach takes great pride in providing customer service above and beyond anything our industry has ever seen.

Southern Coach only produces high quality, high value products.  Southern Coach was one of the first ten GM Special Vehicle Manufacturers to be awarded the truck / SUV chassis bailment where truck and SUV chassis are shipped directly to Southern Coach from the assembly plant that produced the vehicle.

Southern Coach is fortunate enough to be a debt free, privately owned company.  Southern Coach operates four business units; conversion vehicles, commercial vehicles and the Carolina Custom Center, a truck, van and SUV accessory upfitter and conversion service center.
